Because polls get the most engagement I’m making a poll lol
(For the sake of this poll: a collector is anyone who *currently has* a collection of things either physically or digitally that they intentionally acquired which can be grouped together)
Please please please please pleeeeeeeaaaaaaase tell me what you collect and optionally why!!!! (This is doubly true if your collection is related to a regulatory/“special” interest!!!!!!! That’s honestly the only reason I’m making this poll, I am begging youuuuuuuuuuu
Neurodivergent related tags are for reach as I know a lot of neurodiverse people are collectors. I do try my best not to clutter those tags, if anyone has an issue with it please tell me and I’ll remove them

i had to open up and repair some of my butterflies because the ancient glue holding the glass gave in, and i figured while it's open, might as well take some close ups of the sunset moth
#jj stuff#the collectors stamp on the back said it was closed in 1969 so the person who sealed it did a GREAT job#it was just the frame manufacturing that gave way rip 😔#crushed 1/4 of the top one so i had to make due :'(#i got soo many of these from a Weird Old Local Guy (<- said fondly) who did them himself. miss u mr. warren <3

Yesterday was my 54th birthday. I had a lovely afternoon gathering with friends and family at house where I tasked everyone with participating in a Public Collectors project: 54 YEARS / 56 CENTS / LIFE SAVINGS. It was a total joy to work on together. Below are the instructions I wrote out. If you would like a postcard, message me your address. - Marc Fischer / Public Collectors
November 2, 2024
54 YEARS / 56 CENTS / LIFE SAVINGS
Mailing postcards is a small but tactile way to show that you are thinking about other people.
The estate of my spouse Jen Blair’s late relatives contained many unused postcards and even more unused postage stamps. Today we will use these functional materials that they were not able to finish using in their lifetimes.
How to add postage to the postcard:
1. The total value of the stamps must equal 56 cents. It’s okay if you go over by a penny or two – this is harder than it seems, and stamps are small and tough to read.
2. You must use at least 7 stamps to reach 56 cents. This grouping of stamps will constitute a public stamp collection.
3. You may not use more than one example of the same stamp design. Be careful.
4. The stamps should be placed neatly next to each other in a tight block, starting in the upper right corner, not scattered all over the postcard
5. You should allow enough space for an address to be written on the lower right side of the postcard.
6. Please do not write messages on postcards that are not being sent to someone you know.
I’m going to take some photos of this activity that I may share to document the day. Let me know if you don’t want to be photographed.
The paper these instructions were printed on is also from the estate.
Thank you for joining me on my 54th birthday.

Begging all the discworld stamp collectors to come out of the woodwork like littol ants and post about cool stamps :3
I just think it’d be really neat, I don’t see many people post about them at all but I for one would really love to chat about people’s collections and LBEs and such!!
I’m going to start throwing stamp related posts in the #discworld stamps and #discworld stamp collecting tags so if anyone else out there also has stamps and is considering making posts about them then know that at least one person will go nuts for that sort of thing.
#discworld#gnu terry pratchett#going postal#discworld stamps#discworld stamp collecting#rambles#It would be So So cool to have a little community of stamp collectors here!!!#LBEs are SO FUN to open and I’d definitely be excited to hear about when people get cool stamps

WW Stamp of The Day #1
For my first ever Worldwide Stamp of The Day I selected one of my first ever stamps!
This is a used Japan 1940 Kirishima National Park stamp. I actually have this whole set and maybe as I continue this series you’ll get to see the rest! You can see that this stamp has been cancelled three times from receiving postmarks along the route it travelled when it was still attached to an envelope. Japanese stamps are one of the main focuses of my collection and this was one of the stamps that started it all!
It depicts a torii gate, which in Shinto marks the transition from between the average world and sacred spaces. This stamp was printed with the photogravure method in the colour scarlet. It was issued on 8/21/1940 with a print run of 350,000. There’re no variations.
I love this stamps because it exemplifies what I love about stamp collecting! It’s both a beautiful piece of art and reflects the history and culture of the country it’s from! Stamps are an extremely accessible way to collect art while learning more about the world too.
Catalogue #’s: Stamp Number JP 310, Stanley Gibbons JP 370, Sakura JP P27

I have such a deep love for all collections and collectors no matter how bizarre or mundane, no matter how big or small the collection is. Especially as an autistic person my collections bring me such a sense of peace, joy, and stability. Sometimes they’re a way to have a physical representation of a regulatory (“special”) interest of mine as well! I would love to hear about other people’s collections but here is a (probably incomplete) list of my established collections (i.e. things I have intentionally collected) :)
My collections
Physical
- Hello Kitty Products (I have some Sanrio stuff in general but mostly Hello Kitty)
- Postage Stamps
- Breyer Model Horses
- Dice Sets
- Road Turtles (also known as raised pavement markers)
- Stuffed Animals
-Cassette Tapes and Vinyl Records
- Cool things from the side of the road
- Bones (ethically scavenged only)
- Local Queer Newpapers
- 1990’s and earlier Skater and “Adult” Magazines
Digital
- “Vice Litter” which is pictures of garbage I’ve found relating to common vices
- Queer Protest Photos
- Music!
If you want me to share pictures of any of my collections or make a post talking about them I would really love to!!! Also please tell me about your collections!!! I love hearing why people collect what they do especially!!!

Atheists claim atheism isn't a religion. It isn't an ideology. Or a philosophy. Or a belief system. It's merely a "lack of belief in God." Because, apparently, atheism is a religion like not-collecting stamps is a hobby.
And yet...
Last time I checked, non-stamp collectors don't write books about how they don't collect stamps. They don't create organizations or clubs. They don't host meetings. They don't have groups on Facebook. Or subreddits on Reddit. Or channels on YouTube. Or any other presence on social media. They don't post bumper stickers on their car. And, most of all, they don't identify themselves as "non-stamp collectors" or center their own identity or personality on not collecting stamps. And they most certainly don't waste their free time not-collecting-stamps by arguing with stamp collectors about how their hobby is silly and worthless.
Because, apparently, atheism isn't a religion or philosophy or ideology or belief system or whatever...but atheists certainly treat it as such when it's most convenient for them.
Boy! Atheists sure do want to have their cake and eat it, too. Don't they? 😂
